Jasper County has two courthouses.
The original courthouse burned in 1863 and 1883 with minimal record loss. Carthage is the county seat and is where one courthouse is located.
The other courthouse is located in Joplin. The courthouse in Carthage contains most of the genealogical records.

You may write to the courthouse and request documents if you are unable to get there. However, you do need to know names and dates.
Also, always include a self-addressed, stamped envelope so that they may send the document and/or their charges for making the copies.
The folks in the courthouse are most helpful, but, they are not there to do research - YOU need to know exactly what it is you need before
writing them. If you do not, then write to a local genealogy society - they have volunteers who do limited research at very reasonable rates.
Births & Deaths (from 1910):
To order copies of birth or death records, go to or write the County Health Dept. An application is available at the
Missouri Dept. of Health & Senior Services website. For ordering online
Missouri uses VitalChek.
The cost for copies of the records from the County Health Department are $15.00 each and from VitalChek are 24.50 to 27.99 each and
may not include cost of shipping.
Marriage
Records can be ordered online from the Recorder's Website
Certified copies can be purchased for $10.50 each.
Marriage book pages can be purchased for $1.50 per page. The clerk needs: Book &Page numbers. Copies will be emailed.
Court Records
Records from June 2000 can be found on Case.net and with this information can be ordered from the appropriate court.
