Sentenced to Four Years.
Miss Anna Hough has returned to Jefferson City, and thereby hangs a tale. Miss Hough is in the office of Secretary of State Becker, and came home to help boost at the election. Her return impedimenta depended o the prospective length of her stay. If her chief was re-elected she would take only her tooth- brush and vanity case, for a stay till Jan 1, when his old term would expire. If he was elected for four years more she would take her furniture for light house-keeping and move there. The result at first seemed in doubt. But Miss Hough finally took her furniture when she returned to Jefferson City.

Cashier G. Everett Hough of the Merchants and Miners bank, and Mrs. Hough, have gone to Kansas City to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary where they spent their honeymoon.

Mrs. Laura Herron of the Wood store was called to St. Paul, Kan., by news that her father there had suffered a paralytic stroke. Nothing further has been heard as to his condition.

Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Poindexter took Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Hare, A. W. Hann and Miss Alexander on a sight-seeing trip to the Picher district Monday. Mr. Hann returned last night to St. Louis. The others are to remain longer here. Mrs. Hare several weeks.

Geo. Wooten, from Crane, was a guest here today of his old friend and neighbor, T. H. Komans.

Dr. Kohn is not alone in his glory. Lewis Mock reports today that he too, has red ripe cherries on his back yard trees.

Will Childress is critically ill at 731 West Twelfth street.

Mrs. Richard Burkhart is ill of tonsilitis at her home on West First street.
