MARRIED 50 YEARS AGO
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Kessler of Alba, former residents of Carthage, were married 50 years ago today.
Mrs. Kessler suffered a paralytic stroke about six years ago and Mr. Kessler's heathis not too good, so no special observance of the day was planned. The couple spent the day quietly, with only close friends calling at the home.
Mrs. Etta L. Bryan Kessler was born in Delaware county, Iowa, on Oct. 15,1879. Mr. Kessler is a native of Trenton, N.J., and on June 5 he was 79 years old.
Mr. and Mrs. Kessler were married Jun e8, 1901, at Kansas City, where he was ingaged in the dairy business. In 1909 they moved to Bunker Hill, KS, where Mr. Kessler engaged in faring until he received his appointment as rural mail carrier on route 3, serving area of Bunker Hill postoffice untill he was 65 years old--the retirement age. The Lesslers then moved to Carthage and made their hoe at 416 East Highland untill 1940, when they went to Alba. Their children are Floyd E. Kessler of Alba, Mrs. Opel A. Brown of Bunker Hill, Mrs. Inez E. Rogers, 1110 Prospect, Carthage, Mrs. Georgia A Harder of Alba. Mrs. Kessler has another son, by a former marriage, Wilbur E. McDonald of Ontario, Ore.
Mr. and Mrs. Kessler's grandchildren are Darrell W. Kessler of Russell, Kas., Glenn Arlen, ?? Sue, Georgia Ann, Linda Lou and Henry Franklin Brown of Bunker Hill, Eugene McDonald of Ontario, Ore., Rose Leah and ?? Lee LLRogers of Carthage.
