Wes Baker, the Florida horse-racing man, has arrived back here for the "cool summer season."

Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Burke and daughter of Golden City are spending a few days here visiting his grandmother, Mrs. Frank S. Needham of 801 East Fourth Street.

M. Bazil is home from a two weeks vacation spent at Lockwood, Mo.

Postmaster Joe Hawkins has returned home from St. Louis where he attended the annual state convention of postmasters.

James P. Mallos was in Kansas City today on business.

A regular meeting of the Webb City War Dads chapter will be held tonight at 8 o'clock in the American Legion hall.

Miss Leah Stark, arrived home Saturday night from Des Moines, Ia., where she is a public school teacher, to spend the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stark.

The War Mothers club will meet all day Wednesday with Mrs. Betty Bishop of 1109 West Mineral as hostess.

The masons will meet in regular session Thursday at 8:00.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bles, here on a visit to the parental home of Dr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Cox, have proceeded to Columbia to take college work at Missouri University.

Charles Smuck will leave tonight for a 10 day vacation in Peoria and Chicago, Ill., in which latter city he will visit his sister, Mrs. Prudence Welch.

Jim Hickam, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl J. Hickam of 1025 West Seventh Street, has returned home from Stillwater, Okla., where he has been a student at Oklahoma A. and M. college. He will reenter the school in the fall.

Otho Boyd of Carterville, a veteran of 37 months overseas service of the European theater of operations, has taken a position as a clerk at the Bradbury-Bishop drug.

Joe Craig and mother, expected home this week, are to remain till August in Monroe, La., where Joe will teach summer school.

Miss Aileen Cady of Springfield is here visiting her sister, Mrs. Hal Wise Jr.
